After independence, he played a significant role in shaping Zambia’s economic future as the head of the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC), guiding the nation through its most prosperous years.
His business acumen extended beyond Zambia’s borders with the founding of ITM International, a conglomerate that operated in over 40 countries. He also established Meridian Bank, the largest bank in Zambia at the time, driven by his vision for a Pan-African bank that could fuel the continent’s development.
But Chaminuka, founded in 1970, stands as Sardanis’s most personal and enduring legacy. Originally his private home, Chaminuka grew into one of Zambia’s largest game reserves, home to over 7,000 animals across 40 species.
